Genting Palace Restaurant

genting

Genting. The City of Entertainment.

I believe everyone’s heard of this tagline. At least from the holiday perspective. I recently found out these facts. This hilltop resort features 6 hotels with more than 10,000 hotel rooms (I can only imagine the amount of bedsheets to change .. I have one at home and I am having problem with it…), over 90 dining outlets (yes foodies … big nine oh!), 80 plus shopping outlets (must people go all the way up there to shop?) and of course the theme parks which features more than 50 fun rides (did I also mention scary?).

With all that, it’s no wonder the resort has won many, many local and international tourism related awards.

Shogun Japanese Buffet – Service Issue

Posted by Timothy Low under Articles | [2,841 views]

What makes a good restaurant? From a personal standpoint …..

  1. SERVICE
  2. FOOD
  3. AMBIANCE
  4. OVERALL EXPERIENCE

Do note that of the lot, “SERVICE” is my topmost priority. Corporations worldwide spend billions of dollars annually to implement and upgrade customer service quality and yet, it saddens me to see companies, especially from the food industry being ignorant about this.

Service

Claypot Station Restaurant

Claypot Station

Dataran Sunway in Kota Damansara has never been short on eateries. From Western to Japanese and from Indian to Chinese, Dataran Sunway has it all. There’s even a ‘Kong Chow’ restaurant if you fancy some local dialect food! And if you don’t know where Dataran Sunway is … simple. Just head towards The Curve and drive past it. Soon you will see Dataran Sunway on your right.

And right next to Dataran Sunway is the latest commercial development, The Strand. Yup, spells exactly like the one in London! With The Strand almost as big if not bigger than Dataran Sunway, you can bet on more eateries opening up in this area.

I do have a few articles on Dataran Sunway but allow me to begin with Claypot Station Restaurant. If you’re into claypot dishes, make sure you don’t miss this very humbly set-up place. The setup in this place is pretty simple and plain but don’t let that deceive you. That’s probably the only plain thing about this place. When you check out the menu, you will be surprised by the wide variety to claypot dishes they offer.

This isn’t my first visit to this outlet but the 3rd. And after the 3rd visit, I can safely recommend what’s good and what’s not with them. Which is exactly what I am about to tell you.

Yuet Sum Hin Vegetarian Restaurant

Posted by Timothy Low under Kuala Lumpur | [850 views]

Yuet Sum Hin

Am I a vegetarian? Of course not! Do I take vegetarian cuisine? Hell yeah! After all vegetarian cuisines are all about food that meets vegetarian standards by excluding meat and animal tissue products. I can live with that ….

Yuet Sum Hin is located behind Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur. I’ve done a review some time ago on another food outlet close to this place … Pudu Keong Kei Herbal Soup Stall. Please see attached location map below for clearer directions to this place.

Well, I am not exactly an expert when it comes to ordering vegetarian cuisines and I must say, I am biased towards ordering dishes that is closely similar to meat dishes i.e. the ones you see below.

Chilly Pan Mee

I googled for the word “Pan Mee” and see what the result showed? A whopping 1.7 million returns. Talk about being everyone’s favorite! Anyway, as you can see from the result of the search, Restoran Kin Kin in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in KL seemed to be sitting right at the top. But is it the best place for Pan Mee? Well, I can’t tell because I have not personally tried it.

On the other hand, what I CAN tell you is this one below…..

I have been to this one many, many times … simply because it’s near where I live. That’s right …. Dataran Sunway in Kota Damansara. Food is plentiful here, lucky me. And as for you foodies out there, if you haven’t been to Dataran Sunway … it’s about time you do so.

Eccucino @ Prince Hotel

Posted by Timothy Low under Kuala Lumpur | [1,165 views]

Buffets are sinful. Yup, say that again. Buffets are sinful.

Yet, we are constantly out there looking for the best deal in town. Tell me you ears don’t tingle at the slightest hint of a 50% discount on buffet lines or the latest launch of a Japanese buffets that offer 1+1?

Exactly.

But I always believe in getting what you pay for. For instance …. Eccucino at the Prince Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Now, that name may not ring a bell to many of you … me included but rest assured, when you’ve tried it … you’ll remember the name for good.

Tasty Pot Steamboat Buffet Restaurant

Posted by Timothy Low under Petaling Jaya | [4,635 views]

It’s been a while since I organized any group review/foodie gathering sessions and I must admit, I miss those days. Well, I haven’t been very active in the ’scene’ lately due to my other business commitments and I do hope to make a comeback, anyway possible.

I still remember meeting fellow foodies such as A Whiff of Lemongrass, Masak-Masak, Kampungboycitygirl, Tankiasu, Teckiee, WMW …. among others. There were many others which if I list them down, would take many pages to complete. I enjoy the company of fellow foodies simply because we speak the same lingo.

FOOD.

I mean, what more could a foodie ask for? There food. There’s company. And then there’s more food. And that is why I’ve decided to organize group-makan sessions again. The most recent one was held at Tasty Pot Restaurant, in Sunway Mentari.

Unite For Hunger And Hope

Posted by Timothy Low under Articles | [1 views]

DOES THIS MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU?

  • Every year 15 million children die of hunger
  • For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years
  • Throughout the 1990’s more than 100 million children will die from illness and starvation. Those 100 million deaths could be prevented for the price of ten Stealth bombers, or what the world spends on its military in two days!
  • The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well-fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving- Since you’ve entered this site at least 200 people have died of starvation. Over 4 million will die this year.
  • One in twelve people worldwide is malnourished, including 160 million children under the age of 5.
  • Nearly one in four people, 1.3 billion – a majority of humanity – live on less than $1 per day, while the world’s 358 billionaires have assets exceeding the combined annual incomes of countries with 45 percent of the world’s people.
  • 3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US$2/day.
  • Half of all children under five years of age in South Asia and one third of those in sub-Saharan Africa are malnourished.
  • About 183 million children weigh less than they should for their age.
  • To satisfy the world’s sanitation and food requirements would cost only US$13 billion- what the people of the United States and the European Union spend on perfume each year.
  • The assets of the world’s three richest men are more than the combined GNP of all the least developed countries on the planet.
  • Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger.

Want to help ? All you have to do to help end world hunger is to join thousands of others bloggers on April 29 and write a post about world hunger.
