Romeo and Juliet Restaurant

Legend of the Seas

Romeo and Juliet Restaurant. This is one restaurant you won’t be dining in so soon, unless you sign yourself up for the next cruise on board the Legend of the Seas, of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

And I was fortunate enough to be invited on board the cruise when they made their stop over at Port Klang recently. I was given a tour around the ship and the tour ended with lunch at Romeo and Juliet Restaurant. This is the main dining venue on the Legend of the Seas serving a formal breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The Romeo and Juliet Restaurant features a full dinner menu with appetizers, soup, salad, pasta, entrée and traditional deserts. For an international standard, the quality of the food and the presentation extremely high standard!

Every course I had left me quite satisfied. The waiters made it quite clear, that they would correct any element of the dining experience that was not up to par. Impressive, I would say.

Canton Fare

Char Siu

A plate of char siew rice. A vegetable dish and a bowl of soup.

That’s what I need, for a decent square meal. Pretty simply and plain, yes I admit. I am quite a ‘China man’ .. well, at least that’s what my friends say about my dining preferences. So when I spotted Canton Fare in Solaris Mont Kiara recently, nothing can stop me from checking them out!

Frontera Bar and Grill

Posted by Timothy Low under Petaling Jaya | [2,118 views]

Lesson learned recently.

NEVER bite more than you can chew.

I went to Frontera Bar and Grill recently based on recommendation by Derek, a close friend of mine. He’s a foodie … not the blogging sort but the eating type i.e. he’d travel to the end of the world if there’s good food there. And if he tells me there’s good food, I would believe him.

And incidentally, his recommendation came as a challenge or at least that’s what I felt! His exact words were “if you like spicy food, you have to try this place!”. And I was like …. “aww .. no amount of spiciness can take me down … not Timothy !”. And that was it. I made up my mind that I must try out Frontera.

And I did.

Went with my family and hunted for Frontera which is located in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya. If you’ve never been to Jaya One, just check out the map below. Jaya One has over 30 food outlets …. yup, 32 … to be exact. So NEVER complain there’s no place to bring your date for a dinner date.

Rak Thai @ The Gardens

Posted by Timothy Low under Petaling Jaya | [1 views]

Have you been to Gardens @ MidValley Megamall?

If you haven’t, it’s about time you make a trip there. I used to dislike going to MidValley simply because the parking there is horrible! It’s sometimes practically impossible to get a parking there. But since the opening of The Gardens at MidValley, I’ve been going back there … again and again. Because of the food, I guess.

Vegetarian Sushi @ Shiang Hai

So here I was, sitting here feeling a little tired and fatigue. Perhaps too much eating and not enough exercise. A friend suggested that we go try some vegetarian food for lunch. And usually I would shudder at the thought of vegetarian food but I just remembered having just a little too much ‘meat’ for the whole of last week, so I decided to go with the vegetarian lunch.

We went back to Shiang Hai Vegetarian Restaurant which I’ve visited before, about 2 months ago.

We decided to try vegetarian sushi. Yummy ….. ugh. Well, that was before I tried these stuffs. I mean, just look at the name of the sushi. Orchid Sushi ……. Banana Sushi ….. sigh. Anyway … the dishes were served and I picked up a piece and dipped it into the wasabi, lot’s of ‘em … just in case. I took a bite and guess what … it’s actually delicious ! Purple rice wrapped around a slice of sweet mango with some crunchy carrots. And the taste …. it’s a little like eating salmon sushi … except it’s sweet.

As for the Banana sushi, I don’t really like it very much. Probably because of the Alfalfa Grass … or that’s what my friends call them. Tasted a little raw … you know, the green grass smell and taste.

So what the benefit of eating vegetarian sushi? Would eating vegetarian sushi equals eating vegetarian food? Studies have shown that vegetarians (following a well-balanced low-fat high-fibre vegetarian diet) often have lower incidence of coronary artery disease, hypertension, obesity and some forms of cancer.

And here’s where you can fit in if you ever want to be a vegetarian.

  • Fruitarians: Avoid all animal products and processed foods.
  • Vegans: Avoid all animal products.
  • Lacto-vegetarians: Eat dairy products but not eggs.
  • Lacto-ovo-vegetarians: Eat both dairy products and eggs.
  • Semi-vegetarians: Eat fish and/or chicken but no red meat. They are not officially classed as vegetarians.

A vegetarian diet can be a very healthy option but it is important to ensure it is well balanced. You could stuff your face with chips and chocolate at every meal and be vegetarian but you wouldn’t be doing your health much good.

Anyway, if you feel like having some healthy, vegetarian sushi .. do check them out.
